What is Prayer?

What is Prayer?

Prayer in simple terms is “talking to God.” Prayer is different from meditation, it is direct talking to God. It is the human soul communicating with God the creator all souls. Prayer is primarily the way for a believer in Christ to speak his emotions and desires to God the creator and fellowshipping with Him.

SHOULD PRAYER BE LOUD OR IN SILENCE?
Prayer can be loud, silent, private, public, formal or informal. Note the following keys during Prayer.
-Have faith James 1:6,
-Pray in Jesus name John 16:23
-Prayer should be inspired by the Holy Spirit (Romans 8:26).When we write a letter, we make sure the address of the recipient is always correct, we check their contacts to make sure the information we send doesn't go to the wrong person. To summarize the above points, prayer should be  addressed to God as Father, in the name of Christ as Mediator, and through the enabling  of the Holy Spirit who live in believers. The wicked have no zeal to pray Psalm 10:4, but the children of God naturally have the desire to pray Luke 11:1.

Christians are to pray about everything, “Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus” Philippians 4:6–7.

Christ's followers are to pray always “pray without ceasing” 1 Thessalonians 5:17. Prayer build our relations with God and proves our trust and total dependence upon Him.

We pray to praise, thank, and show God how much we love Him. Through prayer we enjoy God's presence and tell Him what is going on in our lives. We pray to request and seek guidance and wisdom from God. God cherish this exchange with His children, just as we communicate with our children. Fellowshipping with God through prayer is very vital.

In genuine prayers, we admit  God's greatness and He knows our needs more than we do Romans 11:33–36. Our prime focus should be “Not my will, but your will be done.” 1 John 5:14–15; James 4:3.

Some Bible verses exhorting prayers,  Luke 18:1; Romans 12:12; and Ephesians 6:18. God’s house should be a house of prayer Mark 11:17, and God’s people are to be prayerful: Jude 1:20–21.
