The Scriptures have not mentioned abortion in specific but some portions clarify God's plan in regards to humanity.
Let us explore the following verses to gain some insight.
- Jeremiah 1:5 tells us that God knows us before He forms us in the womb.
- Psalm 139:13–16 speaks of God’s active role in our creation and formation in the womb.
- Exodus 21:22–25 prescribes the same penalty—death—for someone who causes the death of a baby in the womb as for someone who commits murder. This law and its punishment indicate that God considers a baby in the womb to be just as much a human being as a full-grown adult. For the Christian, abortion is not a matter of a woman’s right to choose to have a baby. The baby is already present and living. Abortion is a matter of the life or death of a human being made in God’s image (Genesis 1:26–27; 9:6).
We all know during an abortion, a human life which is God's work will be lost. Is it not Exodus 20:13 which reads, "you shall not murder" Though the Bible never mentions abortion, it's clear tampering with an unborn baby is murder.
Many Christians in favor of abortion argue that any pregnancy resulting from rape or two blood relatives accidentally involving in an incestuous act can be terminated. The question is incest and rape or any other sexual unbiblical disorder is sin so why should one sin affect an innocent baby? Many people are dying to have babies, to adopt babies, why can't such fetuses be allowed to live and be adopted?
In America, abortions resulting from rapes and incest score very low percentage totalling one percent according to October 2001 survey obtained from www.abortionfacts.com/facts/8#cite-1, accessed 9/9/21).
Isn't abortion necessary if the mother's life is at risk? We should also know that God is a God of miracles, such cases require wisdom through prayer. Let the mother, Doctor, including the father pray faithfully on any decision James 1.5
Unfortunately, many women terminate fetuses to relieve them but if they have a love for humanity, it's worth moving heaven and earth to save lives.
