What is theology?

What is Theology?

The word "theology" is combination of two Greek words meaning "the study of God." Christian theology is understanding of God as He is revealed in the Scripture. No theology will fully explain God and His ways because He is eternally higher than us. So any attempt to describe Him will fall short (Romans 11:33-36). Theology thus is the art and science of knowing what we can and understand about God in a systematic and understandable format. Some people try to avoid theology because they believe it separate people. But proper, biblical theology is good ; it is the teaching of God's Word (2 Timothy 3:16-17).
2Ti 3:16  Every Scripture passage is inspired by God. All of them are useful for teaching, pointing out errors, correcting people, and training them for a life that has God’s approval.
2Ti 3:17  They equip God’s servants so that they are completely prepared to do good things.

God is the creator of every visible, invisible. He is sustains everything, He is the beginning and the end, he is not a force but has will, mind and is self reliant. God has no beginning and end thus human mind will study Him partially but our minds cant study all His personality.
Exo 3:13  Then Moses replied to God, “Suppose I go to the people of Israel and say to them, ‘The God of your ancestors has sent me to you,’ and they ask me, ‘What is his name?’ What should I tell them?”
Exo 3:14  God answered Moses, “I Am Who I Am. This is what you must say to the people of Israel: ‘I Am has sent me to you.’ ”

Studying Theology is important because it lead us to know Him which eventually develope love and the zeal to serve Him. God has further revealed Himself to humanity through Jesus Christ.
Joh 14:7  If you have known me, you will also know my Father. From now on you know him ⌞through me⌟ and have seen him ⌞in me⌟.”

believers should yearn to know God personally in order to serve Him on earth and spent eternity with Him in heaven through Jesus Christ.
Amen
